Grow does not manually reconcile your SMSF accounts on an ongoing basis.
Grow's SMSF accounting service is an annual service. We do not update, reconcile or process any transaction data manually during the year.
This means some investment account balances will not be accurate.
Where does the data come from?
All data in Online Reporting is sourced from our third-party accounting platform, Class Super.
Please be aware there can be delays and limitations with the data presented — figures update as transactions are processed and reconciled, so very recent activity may take a little time to appear.
All information in Online Reporting is read-only. If something looks incorrect it could be because of delays with the data feed, or there simply being no data feed available for that particular account or investment.
Accessing Online Reporting
Log in to your Grow client portal at portal.growsmsf.com.au and open Online Reporting from the menu. You'll only ever see data for your own fund.
What devices can I use?
Online Reporting runs in your web browser, so you can use it on desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile phones. The display automatically adjusts to your screen size. On smaller screens some detail is condensed for a cleaner mobile experience; desktops and tablets show the complete set of information. We recommend using a desktop, laptop or tablet rather than a mobile device.
Finding your way around
Across the top of Online Reporting you'll find these tabs:
Home — a dashboard snapshot of your fund
Valuation — the value of your portfolio over time
Bank — bank account transactions
Contributions — contributions tracked against the caps
Pensions — pension payments and limits
Performance — investment returns over time
Realised Capital Gains — gains and losses on assets you've sold
Unrealised Capital Gains — gains and losses on assets you still hold
Reports — downloadable PDF, CSV and RTF reports

Listed ASX and global (including US) shares/stocks/ETFS have daily pricing based on the closing price of the last trading day;
Managed fund pricing usually is also daily, although some funds provide unit pricing less frequently;
Cryptocurrency pricing is provided by Swyftx daily (based on previous midnight pricing). Over 300 cryptocurrency assets are revalued each night;
Property valuations are only updated annual when the SMSF accounts are prepared;
Precious metals prices are only updated annual when the SMSF accounts are prepared;
Home
The Home screen is your dashboard. At the top you'll see your fund name and its Current Value. Below that is a snapshot of your fund made up of four panels:
What is my portfolio worth? — a chart of your portfolio's value over the past 12 months.
How much can I contribute? — each member's remaining contribution cap space for the current financial year. You can toggle non-concessional caps on or off.
What are my latest bank movements? — the most recent transactions from your fund's main bank account.
What am I invested in? — a donut chart showing how your fund is spread across asset classes (for example Australian shares, international shares, cash).
Each panel includes a View detail link that takes you straight to the matching full page for a deeper look.
Valuation
The Valuation screen shows the value of your portfolio over a chosen period of time.
The Investment Valuation chart is interactive and lets you see the market value of your portfolio across time. You can break the valuation down by market type, asset class, asset pool or holding.
The valuation table lists each holding with its current market value.
A note on estimated income and unsettled activity
Income declared but not paid — when an investment has gone ex-dividend, the declared-but-unpaid amount is reflected as at the report date.
Unsettled trades — where securities have been bought but not yet settled, the amount is included in the valuation table until the trade settles and cash is paid.
Bank
The Bank screen lets you view transactions for your fund's bank accounts.
Choose the account you want to view from the drop-down list.
Filter by date range to see transactions for a specific period. The view defaults to the current financial year.
You can see all transactions and separate table for cash matches (reconciled) and Unmatched only (unreconciled).
Please note that it is not possible for your edit, allocate or reconcile any unmatched transactions via Online Reporting. It is 100% read-only.
We have no intention of enabling SMSF trustees to categorise or code their own transactions at this time. We are however investing heavily into AI which should reduce the manual intervention required when it comes to processing SMSF transactions.
Contributions
The Contributions screen summarises the contributions made by each member during a financial year and compares them to the applicable contribution caps.
It shows:
how each member is tracking against their concessional (and, optionally, non-concessional) caps for the year
a breakdown of contributions by type
prior-year contributions where relevant
If a member has made concessional contributions, you'll be able to see how much cap space they have remaining and whether any cap has been exceeded.
Contribution caps and the bring-forward rules are complex. If you're planning further contributions, please talk to us before acting on the figures shown.
If you would like to provide details of your historical contributions prior to transferring your super to your SMSF, we can accommodate this. You can provide details of your (pre-SMSF) concessional contributions for the current and previous 5 financial years, and current and previous 2 financial years for non-concessional.
Please note that only employer contributions where they've used the smsfdataflow ESA in their payroll system or clearing house will display in the contributions reports.
Contributions reporting will not include personal concessional or non-concessional contributions unless they've been manually reconciled by the Grow accounting team (regardless of whether you've used specific transaction descriptions or completed a Notice of Intent to Claim form via the Grow Portal).
Pensions
The Pensions screen shows the required and actual pension payments made within a financial year.
For each pension member, you'll see how their payments are tracking against the minimum pension payment required for the year. If a member has not yet met their minimum, the figures are highlighted so it's easy to see at a glance. There's an overall Fund view as well as a view for each pension member.
Performance
The Performance screen shows the investment return of your portfolio over a chosen period. The information can be exported to PDF.
Returns are calculated using recognised industry methods so your portfolio's performance can be measured consistently over time.
You can select the period you want to review.
"Income" shown on the Performance screen is calculated differently from "Total Investment Income" in your fund's Operating Statement, so the two figures may not match exactly.
There are two performance calculations:
Simple refers to the Simple Dietz method, which assumes external cash flows occur at the middle of the period.
Time Weighted refers to the Time Weighted Return calculation, which measures performance independent of money flowing in and out of the portfolio.
Realised Capital Gains
The Realised Capital Gains screen shows the gains and losses from assets your fund has sold during a selected period.
It lists each disposal grouped by investment, showing proceeds, cost base, and the resulting discountable, other and indexed gains or capital losses, along with summary tables for:
categorised capital gains
capital losses applied
net capital gains
The CGT discount (generally 50% for assets held more than 12 months) is applied to the net discountable gain after capital losses.
You can filter by date range or financial year (for example the current financial year, the last financial year, or a custom period).
Unrealised Capital Gains
The Unrealised Capital Gains screen shows the gains and losses from assets your fund still holds, as if they were sold on the chosen date. It's an estimate of the tax position embedded in your current investments.
It lists open holdings with their market value, cost base and estimated gain or loss, plus an estimate of the tax that might apply. Choose an "as at" date to value the position at a particular point in time.
These figures are estimates only. Actual capital gains tax is calculated when assets are sold and the fund's annual return is prepared.
Reports
The Reports screen lets you generate and download a range of fund reports on demand.
To generate a report:
Choose the report from the list.
Select the reporting period — either a date range or a financial year, depending on the report.
Choose the file format. Depending on the report, this may be PDF, CSV or RTF. Some reports are available in PDF only.
Click Generate & download. PDFs open in a new tab; CSV and RTF files download to your device.
Available reports include Cash Reconciliation, Realised and Unrealised Capital Gains, Statement of Financial Position, Operating Statement (Profit & Loss), Tax Reconciliation, Distribution Reconciliation, Investment Portfolio, Investment Income, Investment Performance, Investment Summary, Rental Property Schedule, Trust Income Schedule Reconciliation, Centrelink Schedule Data, Contribution Cap, Member Statement, Member Transaction Detail and Pension Limit.
You can only generate reports for your own fund.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't my figures match my bank or broker exactly?
Online Reporting reflects data processed in Class Super, our accounting platform. There can be a short delay while transactions are received, matched and reconciled, so recent activity may not appear immediately.
Can I change data in Online Reporting?
No — everything is read-only. If something needs correcting, contact us and we'll update the underlying records.
Are the tax and contribution figures final?
No. Capital gains, contribution caps and pension figures shown are estimates or point-in-time snapshots to help you understand your position. Final figures are confirmed when your fund's annual return and financial statements are prepared.
I think something looks wrong — what should I do?
You can let us know, but we do not guarantee that we will make any adjustments. Grow's accounting services are annual only, meaning we do not manually reconcile or update your SMSF accounts and transactions on an interim basis.
